British Surrealism

Dulwich Picture Gallery marked 100 years since the birth of surrealism with a major exhibition of the British artists that contributed to the movement. James Hunter and Stephen Coates were appointed creative directors of the exhibition, working alongside the team at the gallery to create exhibition graphics and the catalogue.

In response to texts from key artists, they used objects in the exhibition, and special printing finishes in the catalogue, to create interventions that challenge the viewers’ perceptions of what is real.
